Nelson's Column in London.
In honor of the feat of Admiral Nelson, a monument was created in the form of a column surrounded by lions. The column was built following the example of the Roman temple of Mars Ultor. In ancient Rome, columns had a phallic shape symbolizing masculinity. The columns were created in memory of outstanding achievements to humanity, in particular in honor of the victory in battle.
